Join us for the final event of the 2016 Skoll World Forum. Hear from a leading researcher who is demanding a creative,  moral approach to the treatment of refugees, and an inspiring young girl who used music to escape her fate as a child bride and is now using her fame to end the practice altogether. Doors open at 11:15am, and seating is general admission.

Sonita Alizadeh, Artist & Activist; Subject of Sundance Grand Jury Award-winning documentary, Sonita

Sonita uses her rap lyrics and powerful voice to fight child marriage. As a teenager, Sonita created a rap song and music video to express her feelings about her family’s plans to sell her into marriage. Now, she is an activist working to end child marriage around the world. Her story was featured in the film Sonita, which won the Grand Jury and Audience Prizes at Sundance in the World Cinema: Documentary category. 

Musical performance followed by Q&A with Tabitha Jackson, Director, Documentary Film Program, Sundance Institute. Highlights from the film Sonita will be shown.
